Hear from an archivists about what makes an archive.
Hear about ways to make a usable archive – a key aim for this project. HOW do we create a worthwhile and lasting archive?
This session will get our volunteers thinking about the foundations of an archive, what can we do now, what can we build into the project from day1? Into everything we do while collection data.
On Monday April 29th in the Quiet Common Room (part of Thomas Hardye sixth form centre).
Forty year 12s from Thomas Hardye School will be at hand to help at this session. A great opportunity for FreeTime volunteers to work with the students to capture some intergeneration discussion around their leisure time. This would happen during the second part of the tea party.
The format the school has set is
1.30 arrive, meet and greet, everyone sit at horshoe shaped table
1.45-2.15 Singalong, speeches
2.15-3.30 tea party and chatting – this would be a time for interviews which could be conducted in a quiet room nearby if necessary.
All young people involved in this project at Thomas Hardye School will be given a taster on using iPads to record interviews with. Also the English department students will conduct a session on open ended questioning.
